At its heart, Azaad is a gripping tale centered on 19-
year-old Govind, a humble stable boy whose life
intersects with that of an extraordinary and fiery horse
named Azaad. Set against the tumultuous backdrop of
1920s British-occupied India, their bond is forged
amidst the swirling chaos of political unrest.
The story unfolds in a period just before India's hard-
fought independence, where the fervent cry for
liberation contrasts starkly with the oppressive rule of
tyrannical zamindars. The narrative is imbued with
characters from both ends of this intense spectrum-
passionate rebels known as baaghi's and the ruthless,
authoritarian zamindars.
Govind, initially confined by his modest prospects and
constrained dreams, longs for a transformative fire
that he has no outlet for. His only solace lies in his
vivid fantasies about horses and his unrelenting
aspiration to ride the fastest one. This dream
materializes when he encounters Azaad, a majestic
and tempestuous steed, whose prowess on the
racetrack and unwavering loyalty make him a legend
in his own right.
